چکیده

A class of dynamical systems with hysteresis is considered, where the hysteresis nonlinearity is coupled to an ordinary differential equation (ODE) in an unusual manner. Such systems arise in various contexts, e.g., smart material modeling, open-loop control of smart material actuators, and feedback control of systems involving hysteretic components. In this paper the Preisach operator is used to represent the hysteresis. The well-posedness of the hysteretic systems is established under general assumptions. With more specific assumptions, a number of system-theoretic properties are analyzed, including reachability, observability, input-output stability, and stability of equilibria. Existence of periodic solutions under a periodic input is shown. Finally numerical integration of such systems is discussed.

Tracking Control of Hysteretic Piezoelectric Actuator using Adaptive Rate-Dependent Controller.

With the increasing popularity of actuators involving smart materials like piezoelectric, control of such materials becomes important. The existence of the inherent hysteretic behavior hinders the tracking accuracy of the actuators. To make matters worse, the hysteretic behavior changes with rate. One of the suggested ways is to have a feedforward controller to linearize the relationship betwee...

Control of hysteresis in smart actuators with application to micro-positioning

Hysteresis in smart material actuators makes the effective use of these actuators quite challenging. The Preisach operator has been widely used to model smart material hysteresis. Motivated by positioning applications of smart actuators, this paper addresses the value inversion problem for a class of discretized Preisach operators, i.e., to find an optimal input trajectory given a desired outpu...

Hysteresis Modeling, Identification and Fuzzy PID Control of SMA Wire Actuators Using Generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii Model with Experimental Validation

In this paper, hysteretic behavior modeling, system identification and control of a mechanism that is actuated by shape memory alloy (SMA) wires are presented. The mechanism consists of two airfoil plates and the rotation angle between these plates can be changed by SMA wire actuators. This mechanism is used to identify the unknown parameters of a hysteresis model. Prandtl–Ishlinskii method is ...

Modeling SMA actuated systems based on Bouc-Wen hysteresis model and feed-forward neural network

Despite the fact that shape-memory alloy (SMA) has several mechanical advantages as it continues being used as an actuator in engineering applications, using it still remains as a challenge since it shows both non-linear and hysteretic behavior. To improve the efficiency of SMA application, it is required to do research not only on modeling it, but also on control hysteresis behavior of these m...

Robust Control of Nonlinear Systems with Hysteresis Based on Play-Like Operators

Hysteresis phenomenon occurs in all smart material-based sensors and actuators, such as shape memory alloys, piezoceramics and magnetostrictive actuators (Su, et al, 2000; Fu, et al, 2007; Banks & Smith, 2000; Tan & Baras, 2004). When the hysteresis nonlinearity precedes a system plant, the nonlinearity usually causes the overall closed-loop systems to exhibit inaccuracies or oscillations, even...
